What!!??

You mean I should post on my blog? That darn job(that I love) is really in the way.

I think I may have figured it out enough now to actually be employed and still find time to scrap.

So the new catalogue is coming out. I received my shipping notice and will have my cases on Tuesday. I can hardly wait for you all to see it!!

I am starting a brand new club in September. We are doing a techniques club. Even though some of the girls have stamped before the techniques will be simple yet new to everyone, so if you want to join a club, now is a great time.

We will be learning different watercolouring with different mediums, heat emboss, scratch 'n sniff, rainbow emboss, shattered glass, rock and roll, kissing.........and lots more.

Also, when the new catty comes out, I will be hosting a ribbon share. For $20 you will get 2.5 yards of the 6 different in colour polka dot ribbon. If you'd like a bit of each colour without having to pay $20 for each one, this is a great way to do it.

Fourth Birthday

Back to the Canadian Scrapbooker magazine, for this scraplift. I don't have the treading water punch so I used the SU! scallop punch and the SU 1/8" circle punch.

The base cardstock is Baja Breeze, the print is from ski slope, beautiful, beautiful, the scallop is Pink Pirouette, the font is the Taffy Alpha, and the party hats are from Party Harty. Have you ever bought a stamp set and then later kicked yourself for it??? I had the opposite happen to me for this layout. I wasn't sure about this set but I bought it because it was on sale and I thought, hmmm maybe.......I am so glad I bought it. It work perfectly for what I wanted it for with this layout.

I also should mention, I used white grosgrain ribbon and just slid it across my Pink Pirouette stamp pad a couple of times to make it pink.

"My favourite colour is pink."

*sigh* I'm becoming a mom of a 6 year old. In a few days Waneeke will turn six. This is the first year we've had a real party for her, you know, other than having cake at home with the family.

I asked her about inviting friends, so I could make the invitations. She said, "My favourite colour is pink." At least it is this week, so I went with it. I love the way that turned out, oh so cute.

I snuck into her classrooom today to hand them out to the invited kids. I was going to just send the invitations with her BUT when we were picking out the 6 kids she was going to invite, I put a checkmark beside their names on the class list. When I came back to finish getting the invitations ready for her to take, there were checkmarks beside all of the kids' names and she wrote in a few names and checkmarked those also. I was a bit concerned that she would be making extra invitations to send out to kids in her class who didn't get invited.

October explanations and Punch Tins

Sorry I missed all of October.

Have you ever been in a position where you had so many things to do that you didn't know where to start? That was me in October. I had to make swaps for SU! Regionals and do 50 scrapbook pages, make spiders for the kids at school and get ready for Halloween. I made it but I did some serious procrastinating too.

Right now SU is offering some alterable tins. I love altering tins because they just look so much nicer when they are covered with the pretty SU! papers. I have done three of the punch tins this week. The punch tins are $4.75 each and then there are skinny silver tins that are $2.50 each.


This brings me to two confessions. 1. I start my Christmas cards in January so I have a great stockpile by the time I go to address and ship them out. 2. I always save my prettiest papers and ribbons for something that I get to keep.

I need a place to put my Christmas cards through the year and the punch tins are perfect for this. If I leave the cards out, one or more of my children will play with them.

I loooooove the satin ribbon from last year. I don't have a lot of the purely pom left. For Christmas the Holiday Harmony paper was so pretty and went really nicely with the purely pom satin ribbon. For my Christmas card holders, I decided to make them look kind of like Christmas presents. I like the clear window though and didn't want to cover it up. So for this project I got to keep my beautiful ribbon for myself, and alter a tin to make it pretty.

Chocolate with a Friend

Whew. I haven't been here but I have been scrapping. I've finished 39 layouts this month already. That's insane. The Scrapping girls on SCS are gearing up for another fabulous crop. This one is football themed, right up my alley. You should especially go there for next Friday night.

Onto the good stuff.

The challenge on Scrapping Out Loud (love the new look btw) was to do fussy cutting. I have been putting off doing these pictures because I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to do them and I was struggling with the stamp set I wanted to use.


I used Like it a Latte, wintergreen dsp, apple cider dsp, close to cocoa craft ink, ruby red craft ink, whisper white craft ink, clear embossing powder, white embossing powder.

I stamped the steam in whisper white, and then embossed it with white. Before I cut it out of the paper, I cut out little sections of the steam using my craft knife. I'm not so good with the craft knife but I like the idea behind it. Then I stamped a sentiment for a title, in white and embossed it in white. Everything else was embossed using clear embossing powder.

Challenge #5 from Deanne's blogoversary is a sketch challenge. Oh how I love sketches. I'm still trying to get Chez's first year all scrapped up. This was a difficult picture for me. My sil took this picture of Chez and I as soon as we walked in the door to wait for her husband's funeral.

I used Spring Break paper, more chipboard letters. I hid my journaling under the orange paper background, you can see it poking out.

Hold RD

Finished another blogoversary challenge! If things go right today, I'll get another one done as well. This challenge was to do the Sisterhood of scrap challenge. Use chocolate chip paper and a pastel colour/s.

I only had two sheets of Chocolate chip left, and I needed two of this layout, so I did use close to cocoa as well, I hope that's ok. I also used bashful blue paper from the prints pack. Found some chipboard letters, covered them in craft bashful blue ink, and chipboard shapes.

I like no buy months because I always find things I have forgotten about. I don't like no buy months because I am now out of chocolate chip, bashful blue, barely banana, sage shadow, and more mustard cs.

See the Beauty

I'm still doing the blogoversary, and the next challenge was to the Song Lyrics "Just the Two of Us." as the title. Now it didn't have to be Just the Two of Us but the title of the page has to be in the song lyrics.

This is a picture of the first pansy I saw in the spring time. It was growing in my garden before we dug the garden up to plant my veggies. I thought it was really pretty and especially in the spring after a long Saskatchewan winter, it was a beautiful sight to see.

I used my prints paper in both close to cocoa and almost amethyst. My retired hodgepodge hardware and SAB rub-ons for decorations.

Koivu's Turn

Deanne, who is an amazing scrapper, is having her blogoversary. She is giving challenges out for a chance to get a rak from her. The first challenge was given on 08-08-08 and we were to use either 0, or 8, or both somewhere prominently in the layout.

I had this picture of Koivu's first day at school, Waneeke dropped him off and showed him the ropes. I used chipboard letters and covered them in craft ink, as well as the primary colours simply scrappin kit.

At School

I love wild wasabi. I love soft sky. I love certainly celery. Put them together and you get Totally Random's 5th Challenge. I combined challenges with this one and I also did the Inspiration Found challenge on SCS. So this is a scraplift of Trish O'Brien's page.

Christmas Concert

Totally random challenge #4 was to use song lyrics as journalling. I had actually read this challenge when it was originally posted but I didn't do it at the time. I knew what it was that I wanted to do but I just couldn't get it together in my mind enough to get it done.

A few weeks before Waneeke's Christmas concert we were giving the lyrics to the songs she was going to be singing so we could help her. I kept the page because I knew then that I was going to use them somewhere on the page.

I love the holiday harmony paper but I am running out of purely pom cardstock and the beautiful, beautiful, beautiful purely pom satin ribbon. I used Always Artichoke to mat my pictures and as the colour of the journalling and the colour in the title. And then I used my glitter splatter technique(empty bottle of Tombow liquid multi, and squeeze hard and fast, it sort of splatters glue across the paper and then add glitter).

The Sweetest Thing

Challenge #3 for Totally Random was to use only Cardstock, no printed paper. This was a huge challenge for me, I love my printed paper. Usually, I start with my pictures, pick my printed paper and then go to find a sketch that will work with both. So I thought about it for awhile and knowing that I do not have a die cut machine(yay Big Shot) I was going to have to think of something.

Here's what I did have that made my just cardstock look better. I had scallop circle notes, and the die cut flowers. I also had the 5 petal flower punch from SU. I figured with all of that, and the ad that jumped out at me in my old Scrapbooks Etc magazine I could come up with something. My only issue was, I had to find a picture, a single picture that was not landscape.

This is an old picture of my oldest daughter and it isn't very good but it was a disposable camera so I'll take what I could get.

Last Day

This is the second challenge from Totally Random, the challenge was to use some dry embossing on your page. I don't have an embosser yet (yay for the Big Shot) but Shay was kind enough to rak me some embossed sheets. I started with that sheet and worked my layout around it. I sort of used Sally's sketch for this week but took some huge liberties with it.

I thought the clips from the Hodgepodge hardware went really well with the embossing design.

If you haven't checked out Scrapping Out Loud's challenge for the week, you really should. It is a button challenge, and we all know how many buttons some of us have around. Great time to use them

Ok here's my excitement, SU! is coming out with a die cutting machine. I really wanted one but I was waiting until after convention. Actually, I was hoping they would have announced a die cutting machine, instead of the Design Elements but now I can have both! The best part, the absolute best part? There are going to be SU! exclusive designs! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

I'm waiting on pins and needles for my new catty, and I can hardly wait to order from it.

Ok onto the not as good stuff but the reason for the blog.




When I took the last week off of scrapping, I was checking out some of the challenges around. Totally Random is having a catch up challenge. I am really enjoying it because I have never done any of the challenges. So this is the challenge for week 1.

Jump Rope Mania

Last night I had my night off at the lss. I decided to do the challenge for Scrapping Out Loud while I was there. The challenge there this week was to use punches on your page. I love SU! punches because they are quiet punches and very easy to use. I often use punches. I had just right layout sitting there waiting for me to get started on.
I used the die cut machine at the store for the title. I really need to look into getting myself one I can use at home. I used the arrow punch from SU!.

p.s. I just re read the rules(insert the whole rolling eyes here) and I did the layout wrong because I also used ribbon, sorry. (and I'm linking anyway ;) )

Cleany, Cleany-Movey Movey

There's a long story behind this but the end result is, we are packing up my sister-in-law's stuff and getting it out of the house. This being said, dh thinks that she is going to be coming into the house to check to make sure she has gotten everything.

So because of the packing up of stuff and the checking the house out, dh wants the house cleaned up.......translation, get your stuff off of the table and clean up your scrap desk. This means the house looks better but I do scrap better when I can just barely get my 12x12 lo onto my desk.

Also, he emptied one of the big closets and my scrap stuff is going in there. After gathering it all up to put it into one place, I realized just how much I really was collecting. I want to order some of the new dsp so I must scrap using my stash so I can justify it better. I have a large goal for complete pages in August so I had better be getting my mind back on my mission very quickly.


Last weekend I went to my Grandmother's house. To my complete surprise, my Grandmother actually likes my scrapping. I actually kept it a secret from her for a long time because I thought she would make discouraging remarks about it and I didn't want to have to deal with that as well.

On my Grandmother's piano is a thank you card I made for her. I made it after I had Ahrdrcyn, she came to visit and "help" and even though I really dislike it when she is here to "help" I know that she does mean well. She asked me to make some more like it for her to give to her friends. I have chosen to leave them blank so that she can use them however she sees fit. I hope she likes these ones as much as the one I gave her. It is impossible to recreate that card because it just uses scraps.

I used, all SU!, close to cocoa dsps(retired), old olive cs, more mustard cs, bravado burgandy cs, and the hat pin is from my latest pretties container. I am so glad that the pretties didn't retire.
