October explanations and Punch Tins

Sorry I missed all of October.

Have you ever been in a position where you had so many things to do that you didn't know where to start? That was me in October. I had to make swaps for SU! Regionals and do 50 scrapbook pages, make spiders for the kids at school and get ready for Halloween. I made it but I did some serious procrastinating too.

Right now SU is offering some alterable tins. I love altering tins because they just look so much nicer when they are covered with the pretty SU! papers. I have done three of the punch tins this week. The punch tins are $4.75 each and then there are skinny silver tins that are $2.50 each.


This brings me to two confessions. 1. I start my Christmas cards in January so I have a great stockpile by the time I go to address and ship them out. 2. I always save my prettiest papers and ribbons for something that I get to keep.

I need a place to put my Christmas cards through the year and the punch tins are perfect for this. If I leave the cards out, one or more of my children will play with them.

I loooooove the satin ribbon from last year. I don't have a lot of the purely pom left. For Christmas the Holiday Harmony paper was so pretty and went really nicely with the purely pom satin ribbon. For my Christmas card holders, I decided to make them look kind of like Christmas presents. I like the clear window though and didn't want to cover it up. So for this project I got to keep my beautiful ribbon for myself, and alter a tin to make it pretty.

Placing Blame 2

First I would like to say sorry I've been missing in action. We received some news(good) last week that shook my world for a bit. I needed some time to figure out what we were going to do.



Now on to the blame placing. It is Tessa's fault again. I saw the cute little clips on her blog and knew I had to do them for the kid's teachers, and EAs. I also added a little tin because they were just too adorable to not add.

So the clips and the little strawberry on the outside of the tin are scratch 'n sniff. They smelled sooooo yummy while I was making them. I used sugar free jello and glossy glaze embossing powder. This doesn't leave a smooth embossed look to it though.

The only real problem I could find is doing this while you have a two year old in the house. I could not quite get her to understand that they were pretend cherries. She kept telling me how yummy they were. I kept telling her she couldn't eat them because they weren't real. So evidently my two year old thought they were scratch 'n taste. I had to remake a few clips and redo a tin, and then I found this evidence later.

A Golf Widow's Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and while some people are spending it with their dad, or the father or grandfather of their children, we are spending it together, without dh. El wanted to go to a golf tournament this weekend and I have no problem with his golf habit so off he went.

I had this box. It was a box that El emptied but didn't throw out. I saw it and asked if he was finished with it, he told me it was garbage. I decided that I would keep it but only for 2 months and if I hadn't used it by then I would let it go. here's the box.




Also, I hadn't actually given El anything for Father's Day and he is a great dad to our kids. ANNNNNND while cleaning up, I always find all these little pieces of paper with random phone numbers on, or business cards laying around. I never have a place to put them, but when I ask if I can throw them out he says no.

With that being said, I thought the box was perfect because, it was originally his box, it is a golf ball box, and I needed a specific place to put his phone numbers. So off to more altering I went and here is the finished project.




I used Outlaw dsp, naturals ivory cs, chocolate chop cs, sage shadow cs, vintage brads, SU! scallop punch, chocolate chip taffeta ribbon.

And I must admit I do not like chocolate chip taffeta ribbon. I think it looks washed out, but it works great with the Outlaw paper.
