Chocolate with a Friend

Whew. I haven't been here but I have been scrapping. I've finished 39 layouts this month already. That's insane. The Scrapping girls on SCS are gearing up for another fabulous crop. This one is football themed, right up my alley. You should especially go there for next Friday night.

Onto the good stuff.

The challenge on Scrapping Out Loud (love the new look btw) was to do fussy cutting. I have been putting off doing these pictures because I wasn't sure exactly how I wanted to do them and I was struggling with the stamp set I wanted to use.

I used Like it a Latte, wintergreen dsp, apple cider dsp, close to cocoa craft ink, ruby red craft ink, whisper white craft ink, clear embossing powder, white embossing powder.

I stamped the steam in whisper white, and then embossed it with white. Before I cut it out of the paper, I cut out little sections of the steam using my craft knife. I'm not so good with the craft knife but I like the idea behind it. Then I stamped a sentiment for a title, in white and embossed it in white. Everything else was embossed using clear embossing powder.

Actual Cards

I know I've mentioned that I'm not a big card maker. Deanne's second blogoversary challenge was to use a provided sketch and make 3 different occasions cards from it.

For the baby card, I used my sab rub-ons, instead of ribbon, and Buggies & Booties stamp set. For the Christmas card, I used Perfect Presentation, and Holidays and Wishes. For the note card I used a rak.

When I do card challenges, whenever possible, I try and do a Christmas card. I alsways do the Christmas Card Challenge on Splitcoast Stampers. Each month we do 10 Christmas cards and then by the time you go to send them out, you're either already done or you have a good start on them. So I did 10 of the Christmas card so I can add it to my challenge cards.

I love getting raks. I love opening my mail and finding them there. I love looking at how they were made and just looking at them. I do not love throwing them out or storing them. I think I have come up with a solution. I take a picture of them, so I always have them then, I keep them, until I can find a place to either use them in my scrapbooks or use a part to make another card with it.

This rak was given to me from Cheri, I love the stamp and scalloped circle. I knew I had to use it sometime, and it was just perfect for this sketch.

Pajama Day

I know I haven't blogged in awhile, sorry. I was dealing with a mia pre-order from SU! Gotta love UPS.

I finished this page yesterday. It has been sitting there calling my name since February. This was Waneeke going to school one morning. She was so excited that she got to wear her pajamas.

One of the reasons I love SU! so much is the colour matching. I love that I can take a piece of dsp, go to the chart that tells you what colours are in the dsp, grab those colours of cardstock and make a page. I love that you can take a priceless Bella stamp and make her match the colours in the dsp, very easily.

When I started this page it was for vsbn on scs. I believe the challenge was to use some of the new gotta have it stuff that you bought but never used. I always have problems doing those types of challenges, not because I want to not use my new stuff but because I get new stuff and I use it right away. So in this challenge, I inked up my newly obtained Bella and grabbed some awesome flowers that I got for FREE from GinaK. For the title I used SU!'s Taffy Alphabet and I did the kiss technique with an itty bitty background stamp to make it look polka dotted.

And because I absolutely love getting new stuff and I did get my new stuff on Thursday, thanks to a very sweet demo. I did a card today using my pink pirouette, and my sock monkey stamp.

This was for the Dare to Get Dirty 08. We were to first pick a piece of ribbon(I had one in front of me and went with that) then make a card to go with that ribbon. I glued two strips of ribbon on some naturals ivory cardstock and then stamped my sock monkey onto it. Then I stamped a sock monkey onto another piece of naturals ivory cardstock. I ribbon pieced my monkey together. My new stuff used.....sock monkey, pink pirouette, scallop edge punch.

I really want to get better at colouring.

Variety Challenge

This has only taken me all week. On Friday Tessa was the guest hostess for the variety challenge on SCS. I started out using my baby boy but Chez stole the one paper I was going to use, and then glued it to something....so I started over again.

We had to use 3 different dsp from 3 different companies. (I used SEI, SU and an unknown one from my olden scrappin days) And to add to that we also had to use 3 diffent embies from 3 different companies. (I used pti ribbon, GinaK brads, and something else I don't know the name of that I got in a ss swap, the logo is a Q with a crown in the middle.

We have a busy day ahead of us, but I'll check back in later to show you the blog candy.
